ActionGlow LED board lights turn a sunset session into a night session. These are waterproof LED lighting kits that stick right onto your board, light up the rails in your pick of 7 colors and make you easy to spot on the water. We run them for night surfing, sunset paddles on Mission Bay and eFoil flights after the sun goes down, and they get people asking questions every single time.
ActionGlow was started in 2012 by two brothers, Dakota and Garret Porter, who wanted to know what riding a lit up snowboard on a dark slope would feel like. They were 13 and 16. More than a decade, a patent and a Shark Tank deal later, their AG2 system is the version we carry.
Why riders love it
- Be seen after dark. ActionGlow rates the LEDs as visible from over half a mile, with a 180 degree viewing angle, so boats, friends and the beach can see where you are.
- Fully waterproof. IP68 rated LED strips and power packs, built for saltwater, wake spray and snow.
- 7 colors, 3 brightness levels. Blue, green, cool white, magenta, red, amber and cyan, switched with two simple buttons. No distracting flash patterns.
- No drilling. 3M VHB industrial adhesive holds the strips and power packs on your board, no screws and no holes.
- Low profile. Black LED strips and a compact battery box that blend in when the lights are off.
- Backed by ActionGlow. One year limited manufacturer warranty against defects.
How it works
Every kit comes with the waterproof LED strips already wired to their power pack, plus alcohol prep pads and an adhesive promoter for a solid bond. Each power pack runs on a 9V battery.
- Prep. Clean the spot with the alcohol pad and let it dry.
- Promote. Wipe on the adhesive promoter where the strip and power pack will sit.
- Stick. Peel, place the strip in a straight line along the rail and press it down well. Install takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Wait. Let it cure for 48 hours before it goes in the water.
- Ride. Pop in a 9V, pick your color and go.
A standard 9V runs about 10 hours. ActionGlow also makes a USB-C rechargeable 9V 2 pack, good for up to 6 hours at medium brightness on a 1 meter system. Strips can be shortened by cutting at the marked cut lines.
Built for eFoil and foil boards too
ActionGlow kits are not just for surfboards. We set up an LED eFoil and foil board light kit using the long surfboard strips, sized to run the full rail on a LIFT5, LIFTX or a surf foil board. Mount it on the rails, the deck edge or under the board with the battery boxes tucked behind the traction pad. eFoil lights look amazing up on the foil at dusk, and they make you a lot easier to see on the water.

ActionGlow FAQ
Are ActionGlow lights waterproof?
Yes. The LED strips and power packs are IP68 rated and fully waterproof. Keep the battery housing closed and the rubber gasket clean so no water gets in.
Will it damage my board?
No drilling and no screws. The 3M VHB adhesive holds tight while you ride and can be removed without damaging your board. ActionGlow does not recommend moving a used kit to a second board, since the adhesive loses most of its strength once removed.
How long does the battery last?
About 10 continuous hours on a standard 9V. The ActionGlow rechargeable 9V gives up to 6 hours at medium brightness on a 1 meter system and recharges in about 2 hours over USB-C.
Can I use it on an inflatable paddle board?
Not yet. ActionGlow recommends their kits for hard boards and hulls, not inflatable paddle boards.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, a one year limited manufacturer warranty that covers manufacturer defects. Damage from impacts, improper install or water getting into an open battery housing is not covered.
